"Cerro Basalto es una selección de unas seis hectáreas de viñedos, ubicados en la zona más alta del viñedo. Los suelos son rocosos y allí hay plantadas principalmente variedades mediterráneas, pero también algo de carménère y cabernet franc que van para el otro vino de esta línea, el Cerro Basalto Cuartel G2. En este caso, se trata de un 40% de monastrell, 35% de garnacha, 20% de cariñena y el resto de syrah. Todas las variedades se crían por separado y tras un año se integran en un fudre de cinco mil litros. El vino tiene el carácter de los vinos mediterráneos, pero con un acento aquí en la estructura de taninos del monastrell en un año muy cálido. La fruta es exuberante y la acidez es amable y persistente. Un vino para curry de cordero."
