Se basa en viñedos de Panquehue, plantados sobre cerros de origen coluvial y también porciones plantadas sobre las terrazas aluviales del río Aconcagua, en la misma Panquehue, que es la zona tradicional de viñedos en Aconcagua. A pesar de la reducción de maderas nuevas y de uvas cosechadas temprano en la temporada, uno puede percibir el estilo de frutas más negras y maduras, si se les compara con los ejemplos de la costa. Aquí hay densidad y fuerza, en un vino que aún es muy joven; denle dos a tres años en botella."

"(2016) Eduardo travelled to the Rhone and loved the wines, so imported vines from the Rhone in 1993. 22 months in French oak, 50% new. The oak has been dropped back and the addition of some Aconcagua Costa fruit is aimed at making a fresher style. Fruit mostly planted as in Hermitage, 1 x 1 metre on a single post. A touch of bloodiness, excellent freshness, spices and a solid red and black fruit character. Really very juicy, a bitter orange quality to the acidity, plenty of grip again, the tannins rounded but firm and juicy, a tart edge to the cherry and plum fruit. Not in UK at present, but previous vintages around £30 per bottle."

The palate has real structure: there's a broad-shouldered framework of blackcurrant and plum, with supple coffee and spice oak and a rich, chocolaty density to the tannins. This is a well-balanced wine, though there is not huge complexity - it powers through impressively with spicy depth and sheer presence and is a terrific, bold, tour-de-force wine, but perhaps lacks just a touch of complexity."

"Errázuriz fue una de las primeras bodegas en Chile en experimentar con el syrah. Eso fue hacia la primera mitad de los años 90 y, desde entonces, se ha recorrido un largo camino hasta llegar, en 2001 a la primera cosecha de La Cumbre, su syrah más ambicioso. Y este vino también ha cambiado mucho en los últimos años, desde versiones más espesas y maduras hasta añadas como esta que, a pesar de venir de un año muy cálido, muestra frutas rojas radiantes en frescor. Mucho tiene que ver en eso la cosecha más adelantada que -ya por unos cinco años- viene realizando el equipo de la bodega. Eso ha dado más vivacidad a todos sus vinos en general, y a este en particular; a esas frutas sabrosas y refrescantes, se suma un agarre en los taninos que afirma al vino a la boca y le da estructura. Este tiene un 4% de viognier en el blend."
