"Raymond Chan Wine Reviews" has rated the wine "Yalumba Samuel's Collection Grenache - Shiraz - Mataro" from the vintage 2018 on 01.09.2021 with 17 of 20 points.

"Deep ruby-red with good transparency, lighter on edge. The nose is softly full and alluring, attractive aromas of strawberries, blueberries cherries are layered with spice, melded with subtle savouriness. Medium-bodied, nuances of strawberries, blueberries and cherries are juicy, adorned by cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper. The mouthfeel is rounded and creamy, flows along with soft powdery tannin. This is a bright and juicy GSM on a smooth, powdery palate. Match with lean meat and curry over the next 3 years. Wild fermented to 13.5% alc, 10% aged 10 months in new French oak hogsheads and puncheons, balance in 1 year and older French and American oak puncheons, hogsheads and barriques. Vegan friendly. 17.5/20 pts"

"(2020) Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre is the trio of Rhône grapes on which Barossa's reputation was partly founded. This wine was first made in 2010, and the 2016 is led by 55% Grenache (a similar blend having previously been led by Mourvèdre ). A nice, quite transparent ruby colour, there's loads of juicy, summery fruit and spice on the nose, a little slick of vanilla smoothing things out. In the mouth there is grip here, a bit of basil and leafiness as well as a savoury fruit character, quite a creamy texture. Keen acidity and a rustic, savoury bite of tannin gives great gastronomic possibilities. This sees a mix of barrels for ageing, from barriques to large oak vats, but overall only around 15% of oak is new."
