ABOUT THE WINE: Pinot Grigio (known as Ruländer or Grauburgunder in German) has been at home in Alto Adige since the nineteenth century. The first "Pinot Gris" was introduced Burgundy by Archduke Johann of Austria in 1852. In lower areas around Kurtatsch, the Pinot Grigio develops a mild acidity, while the high alcohol and extract content contribute to strength and flavor. The Pinot Grigio gets fine mineral-rich spice that sometimes takes on a fiery varietal perfume of gooseberries, linden flowers, and acacia blossoms the lime-rich soils of the fantastically steep slopes of Kurtatsch-Penon. The blending of mountain and valley grapes creates an extraordinary Pinot Grigio, with the total class an d creamy suppleness of the south and the seriousness on the palate of the north.

The Kurtatsch Winery is one of the most important winegrowing cooperatives in South Tyrol and is located in the small municipality of Kurtatsch in the heart of the Überetsch region. The history of the winery goes back to 1900, when a few local winegrowers joined forces to produce wine together. Today, the Kurtatsch Winery has around 200 members who cultivate over 20 different grape varieties on a total of around 190 hectares of vineyards. The winery relies on sustainable cultivation of the vineyards, which is supported by the use of modern technologies and careful manual work by the winegrowers. The result is wines of the highest quality that regularly win awards at national and international competitions. The Kurtatsch winery is particularly well known for its white wines, first and foremost the Sauvignon Blanc, the Chardonnay and the Gewürztraminer. But also the red wines of the winery, such as the Lagrein or the Vernatsch, convince with their intensity and their balanced structure. In addition to the high quality of its wines, the Kurtatsch Winery also stands out for its innovative strength. For example, it received an award for its "Cold Cellar" project, which significantly reduced the winery's energy consumption with the help of solar panels and geothermal energy. All in all, the Kurtatsch Winery is one of the most important addresses for wines South Tyrol and stands for a successful combination of tradition and modernity, manual work and technology, as well as quality and sustainability.

A very special wine. Once tasted, never forgotten - so ple - asing is its aromatic richness and strength. Fine spices, cloves and the gentle fragrance of roses characterise and emphasise the traits and the overall elegance of this im - pressive wine. It is here, on the hills between Appiano and Termeno, that the Gewürztraminer grape originated. The wine is an ideal accompaniment to fish dishes, especially crustaceans, lobster and crab, or to foie gras and other pâtès. Yet it is also a fine wine for enjoying on its own.
Our Müller-Thurgau is a delicious white wine, has a light-yellow color with green tinges, a floral nose with hints of grass and musk rose, with a fresh, complex flavor.
A wine with intense floral bouquet and mellow body. Recommended as a desert wine.
