Alto Adige Pinot Nero Sanct Valentin 2009 It is the endeavour and the inner desire of every winemaker to produce a special wine the Pinot Nero grape, a wine that is impressive because of both broadness and elegance. Targeted selection in our vineyards over the course of years have now produced convincing results. The Pinot Nero of the St. Valentin line has been especially successful. A radiant garnet red, it impresses with its tempting aromas: small berries with crisp cherries, fresh violets, a breath of marzipan. This Pinot Nero opens up with a multifaceted lasting quality. A fine wine for lamb dishes, beef, wild fowl, and cheese, it has an excellent potential for aging.
Our Pinot Nero is produced entirely grapes produced French clones. The fermentation is spontaneous in open wooden vats, while malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques. The wine is then refined for twelve months in French durmast oak casks.

The Pinot Noir is a ruby to garnet red wine with velvet like tannins. For the nose it is intense and reminds us of fruits of the forest. For the palate it is persistant and full.
The flagship of the Marinushof is the Pinot Noir stored in the small oaken barrel. With strict selection in the vineyard this red wine becomes more intensive, more spicy, more complex. The oaken barrels are partly new, partly used, because the Pinot's fruit must have priority. With the strong profit limitation in the vineyard the wine wins in depth and strength. It gains in strength and intensity when aged in the cellar.

With its light and smooth tannin and a pleasant freshness, this well-balanced wine is uncomplicated and easy-drinking and the perfect combination to traditional Speck (a kind of smoked bacon).
Brilliant ruby colour with purple tints. Quite pronounced, very fruity aroma with impressions of red fruit cherries and violets. Medium bodied, quite mild and soft though dry. Fresh and slightly spicy aftertaste with an elegant bitter note of bitter almonds. Lagdo di Caldaro is usually drunk in the year after production, but can laso be cellared for at least 3 years.
