The St. Quirinus winery is located in an ancient wine area. The richest and most important monastery in Bavarian history, the Tegernsee monastery, owned land in South Tyrol including the Pianizza di Sopra vineyards, once called Planties superior, which provided wine for the Benedictines and the numerous high-ranking visitors. Even then they knew where good wine grows. In the vineyards the grapes are produced and treated with biodynamic methods and then refined in the new cellar to obtain organic wine. In addition to classic types such as Sauvignon, Kalterersee, Pinot Noir and Merlot, the focus is increasingly on varieties more resistant to fungal diseases (PIWI) such as Bronner, Johanniter, Aromera, Chambourcin, Prior and Cabernet Cortis. The result is the two cuvées Planties White and Planties Rosè.

>> dettaglio
The Meczan Pinot Noir is distinguished by its unmistakable varietal character, its distinctive aroma and fruity character, by its bright ruby colour with garnet reflexes, and its fresh, stimulating bouquet with seductive hints of woodland berries and cherry. On the palate Meczan is harmonious, sappy and mellow with impressive fruit.
This expressive and fruity Pinot Noir achieves its special finesse due to the large wooden barrels in which it is aged. Its silky but powerful body makes "Patricia" a wine that should be served with hearty meat dishes.
The intensive scent of red and dark berries as well as violets is typical of our vineyards in Montan. The Blauburgunder the Unterland region comes astonishingly close to some of the "model" wines Burgundy. This red wine develops harmoniously, with a full body and lasting finish. In the glass it gleams with a beautiful dark to ruby red.
