CHARACTERISTICS: elegant, aromatic, full-bodied white wine COLOUR: greenish-yellow to yellow NOSE: intense, aromatic with scents of clove and rose TASTE: aromatic, robust, spiced MATCHINGS: prawns, lobster, paté de foie gras, dishes au gratin, spicy cheeses; ideal as an aperitif
The Kolbenhof Gewürztraminer is characterised by sumptuous fruit. Deep golden yellow in colour with green reflexes, on the nose it is reminiscent of ripe apricot and peach intermingled with exotic fruits such as lychee, mango and passion fruit. The fruit characteristics follow through on the palate; full-bodied, luscious but dry, the opulence cut by vibrant, firm acidity finishing elegant, dry and aromatic.
The paradigm of an eminemtly quaffable red wine: light in colour, deliciously fruity and delicate; the local Vernatsch variety
It goes without saying that Gewürztraminer is the most typical of South Tyrolean white wines. It is here that the wine originated, getting its name the lower vallery wine village of Termeno. This wine is characterised by an intense yellow colour and the unmistakable aroma of roses and mixed spices just like pepper, nutmeg and cloves. It is equally as convincing on the palate where it lingers, leaving behind intense, unforgettable impressions. This white wine is extremely well suited to be served as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to strong-flavored, spicy dishes made fish, lobst and liver pâté. Served chilled, it can be drunk young, yet also ages well.
