Weingut J. Hofstätter is a renowned winery in Tramin on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, known for its excellent wines and long tradition of winemaking. The winery was founded in 1907 by Josef Hofstätter and is now run by his grandson Martin Foradori Hofstätter.
The J. Hofstätter winery covers a total of around 50 hectares of vineyards, spread over various vineyard sites in Tramin and the surrounding area. The winery is particularly well known for its wines the Gewürztraminer variety, which finds ideal conditions on the steep slopes around Tramin. Here J. Hofstätter produces both dry and sweet Gewürztraminer, which are among the best in the region.
Besides Gewürztraminer, the winery also produces other varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Lagrein and Pinot Nero. The J. Hofstätter winery places particular emphasis on gentle and sustainable winemaking, which preserves the natural characteristics of the grapes and thus produces wines of the highest quality.
The J. Hofstätter winery relies on a combination of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. The grapes are harvested by hand and gently processed before being matured in modern stainless steel tanks or wooden barrels. The winery also relies on long maturation periods to give the wines a special complexity and finesse.
The wines of J. Hofstätter are appreciated worldwide and have already won numerous prizes and awards. The winery is considered a pioneer in the South Tyrolean wine world and has contributed with its wines to establishing the region as a cultivation area for world-class wines.
Bright yellow with topaz reflexes. The aroma is complex, reminiscent of acacia and lime blossom. On the palate the wine is full-flavoured, expressive and mellow, elegantly structured, tangy with excellent length. The wine will continue to develop and age for several years.
In colour it is deep ruby-garnet with a typical aroma of undergrowth, small berry fruits and black cherry - mellow, sweet and inviting. On the palate it is warm, harmonious and well-knit, round and rich in complexities, firm though elegant, broad and velvety, enveloping with the grace and refinement of a truly international wine which will become even more impressive after a further one to two years in bottle.
